Sparrowhawk tests replacement trail-cam

Exciting news! My new trail cam arrived a couple of days ago. We bought it (with a really decent discount from Bushnell as they got to hear about it through the BBC Wildlife Magazine team – BIG thanks to them all!) to replace the one stolen a few weeks ago from our local badger sett  (See the blog post).  Yesterday I tried it out after we saw a sparrowhawk take out a pigeon in my friend Tom’s garden.  The sparrowhawk ate some of it on the lawn and then we moved the carcass to see if it or something else would come and finish it.  The sparrowhawk obviously remembered it hadn’t finished as it came back for breakfast this morning. We were ready with the trail-camera by the carcass. The lighting isn’t great in the video as it was quite a misty morning but you get the gist. So cool!
