All I need to do now is locate its den/ where it lives.
I’ve been a bit sick for the last week or so – and haven’t been able to get out and about as much as I would like. However I put the trail cam for 24 hours at the most local badger sett to us (code named the “milk parlour” sett) and here are the results. This is my image of the week!
At my friend Tom B’s house a great spotted woodpecker has shown some funny behaviour. It will grab a whole peanut from their bird feeder and put it in a crack in the post. Then it will peck at it taking small bite-size pieces from its convenient spot. Apparently now the crack is getting bigger and bigger thanks to the woodpecker. So I set up my trail cam to have a look. Here are the results and I’ve chosen this as my image of the week for this week:

This squirrel at the “bluebell sett” was an unintentional target of the trail cam, along with a roe deer, a fox and a few mice. I love it as it looks like he’s posing for the camera! So here is this week’s “image of the week”.

Recently we’ve been trying to capture more badgers on film at what we think is another part of the Briar Sett. We’ve nicknamed this one the Bluebell Sett for obvious reasons. From the very informative leaflet we received from Badgerland.co.uk we think that this is an outlying sett, possibly where a female may have cubs or where a young badger has set up on it’s own. We have had a few short films so far but nothing too informative (the camera always seems to be pointing at the wrong entrance). I will post an update as soon as I find some more info about it. Due to the very low activity from this sett I am personally guessing that it is a female with cubs possibly staying put with them for now. We will see…
My brother Alex found a ‘colony’ of mouse holes the other day and decided to put bait out near them. I thought that it would be a great idea to put my trail cam there for 24 hours.
We were overwhelmed by the number of times the little mouse came. (55 shots of the particular mouse and 2 voles and a squirrel came and visited as well!) We speeded up some of the best shots in this video.
This week’s image of the week is this daytime shot of three deer, two does and one buck walking through the clearing that my trail cam was in.
Each week I plan to post the best footage from my camera trap. This week we noticed this young deer seems to only have one antler. Still has the downy fuzz on it too. I called it the ‘Rhino Deer’. I chose this because it is very interesting and unique.
